Dr. Lawrence Perlmutter is one of the most experienced ophthalmic surgeons in the Capital Region. He specializes in cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery, and he has performed over 20,000 surgical procedures in his long career. Dr. Perlmutter is known throughout the Capital Region for his outstanding surgical skill and his wonderful devotion to his patients, many of whom have been with him for decades.
Dr. Lawrence Perlmutter completed his internship and residency at Albany Medical College in 1974 and went to join his father-in-law, Henry Dubins, in practice. He completed his college degree in his hometown of Burlington at the University of Vermont, graduating summa cum laude in 1966. As a college student, he excelled academically as well as athletically, and he held the University of Vermont record for the 100 yard dash for many years. He continued his studies at the University of Vermont for medical school and graduated at the top of his class in 1970.
Dr. Perlmutter is affiliated with Albany Medical Center, St. Peters Medical Center, and Albany Memorial Hospital.
When he is not providing care to his patients, Dr. Perlmutter enjoys spending time with his wife Wendy and their three children, Amy, Dana, and David. He also enjoys racquetball, swimming, and kayaking.
